Conference “Farmer as Top-level Manager” 2014

The 9th annual agricultural conference gathered, like each early spring, the top managers of Estonian agriculture to exchange experiences and discuss new developments in agriculture as well as in business, economics, society and environment. This years topics included among others, potential benefits of space technologies to agriculture, security in the Baltic region, agricultural and regional policy debated in the EU and developments in the food industry.

The opening presentation was done by Estonian Minister of Agriculture Helir-Valdor Seeder. The day included the following speakers: Member of European Parliament Ivari Padar, Swedbank chairman Priit Perens, European Stability Mechanism head of banking division Andres Sutt, founder of Sportland Are Altraja, Tartu Observatory senior research fellow and head of Space Technology Dept. Mart Noorma, retired General and advisor to Prime Minister Ants Laaneots, E-Piim chairman Jaanus Murakas, Tere chairman Ülo Kivine and Saidafarm chairman Juhan Särgava.

Winner of the award “Top-level manager in agriculture 2014” was also announced. The jury selected OÜ Kehtna Manor chairman Märt Riisenberg for his outstanding managerial skills, compassion, courage and innovation.
